CTBUH’s Award of Excellence honors projects “that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability and human well-being at the highest and broadest level.”

The three towers—World One, World Crest, and World View—form the heart of Lodha Place, a 17-acre mixed-use development on the site of a former textile mill in Mumbai’s Lower Parel district. Rising from a shared podium, the buildings step up visually in rotation, from World One’s lower-tier terrace to the crown of World Crest and the complementary profiles of World View and World One. The towers ring a circular entry court connected to a major public boulevard lined with shops, cafés, and a new three-acre public park, which in turn connects the larger development to the city beyond. The complex thus makes a vital contribution to the urban scene at ground level while animating the skyline with its distinctive profile.

Attuned to Mumbai’s tropical climate, the towers’ massing and orientation are designed to ensure thermal comfort year-round. Apartments are naturally cross-ventilated and feature high-performance low-E glazing and automated lighting controls. All units have multiple exposures, and balconies and windows enjoy significant shading through the buildings’ unique geometry.
