Twin tower office complex with civic spaces and parking |
 | Click on image to enlarge The challenge of this office complex grew from its exceptionally large site, its elongated shape and limited boulevard frontage. The goal was to shift the center of gravity so that remote interior areas would be
prized equally with prime exposure on Jalan Sudirman, the major thoroughfare in Jakarta's Golden Triangle business sector.A supergrid of walkways establishes a checkerboard of buildings and interlocking public spaces. Two vehicular arrival plazas optimize the interior, greeting visitors with dancing waters, richly planted gardens, locally inspired shade pavilions, and a refreshing fountain system of taut and rippling waters. Unlike most local office developments (which are isolated from
the public behind a secure gatehouse), Anggana Danamon is open, green and inviting. A two-story crystal cube, part of Bank Danamon's L-shaped main branch building, leads off the boulevard to two deep-set towers. Both of the notched orthogonal volumes interlock with glass cylinders to provide varied floor plates with sweeping views and multiple corner offices. The 32-story towers are identical, but rotated 180°
so that all four sides of their shaped mass are revealed simultaneously. Anggana Danamon was designed to satisfy the requirements of private investment in a way that introduces new concepts of public space, offering a civic alternative to Jakarta's more usual pattern of "strip development." |
